Bio for Joannie Suina

Joannie Marie Suina, Ed. D (Pueblo of Cochiti, NM) is a recent graduate from the University of Washington, Tacoma where she earned a Doctorate of Education in Educational Leadership. Suina's research uplifts the ongoing healing efforts led by Native Women in Native Communities. 

Suina also holds a B.A. in Native American Studies and a Master of Jurisprudence in Indian Law. She grounds her work in Indigenous storytelling / Rematriation & critical literacies, qualitative research methods, community praxis & liberatory education, and Indigenous Feminist Justice Leadership theory. She continues to focus her work and research on on Healing-Informed Leadership Practices by centering Indigenous Womxn and their voices.

Suina is the mother of four amazing children. She also serves as the Development Officer at the National Native American Boarding School Healing Coalition. Learn more at boardingschoolhealing.org
